Mary Lambert's Spotlight Closet

Monthly spotlight closets highlight a range of styles, sizes, unique collections & the beautiful people behind them.

August 2024 - Mary Lambert is not your typical multi-platinum artist. While studying Music Composition at Cornish College of the Arts, she found a home in the spoken word community of Seattle and began experimenting with infusing poetry into her music, performing frequently as a cellist, singer-songwriter and poet. Writing and singing the hook to “Same Love” with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis led to an MTV VMA win and two Grammy nominations: Song of The Year and Album of The Year, and culminated in the iconic 2014 Grammys performance, which featured a mass wedding officiated by Queen Latifah and Lambert’s unforgettable duet with Madonna.

Since then, Mary has continued to focus on her music as well as poetry, acting, composing, writing, and production. She’s released several independent EPs; published a book of poetry; voiced a character on the Netflix series, “I ♥️ Arlo and Arlo the Alligator Boy;” hosted The Manic Episodes, a queer and mental health podcast; is documentary film composer; is working on a new book about body image; and facilitates a course on fat liberation and body image called "Everybody is a Babe."

She’s current ON TOUR NOW - see dates on her website www.marylambertsings.com

Mary has been a Two Big Blondes’ supporter for many years, including facilitating a mini-workshop at our 25th Anniversary celebration, and was one of our first Spotlight Closets! We’re excited to bring a new batch of her retro-style as well as a great mix of her Seattle Sports pride!

New spotlight closets will launch the 2nd week of each month, so come back to see who's closet we're featuring next month! See previous collections here.
